Overview
This document will cover how to upload an address list to the Portal.
Address Lists
Uploading an Address list is the most common way of targeting through El Toro. There are a few different options for targeting when uploading address lists: B2C (targeting consumers), B2B (targeting businesses), Digital Canvassing (the “digital door knocking” technique), and ZIP code targeting (targeting prospects within a given ZIP code).

How to Upload an Address List
Before getting started with these steps, open the file you would like to use. Check to make sure that address 1 and ZIP code have their own column in the file. For ZIP code targeting, please ensure the ZIP code column is present. If these data points do not have their own columns, the steps below will not work.
Step 1: Open the portal and click on the “Create” button. This can be found on the left-hand side of the screen, under the heading “Audiences”.
Step 2: From here click on the audience type you want to use the list for.
Step 3: If you select IP Targeting, you can choose between B2C (targeting consumers) or B2B (targeting businesses). The same steps apply to the other audience types that utilize lists. Select the audience type that applies to your need.
Step 4: Now, either click and drag the file you are wanting to use into the box with a dashed outline, shown below, or click inside of the box to open up your device’s file explorer and select your file from there. Please note that we only accept .csv files and a max file size of 4.2 MB.
Step 5: The next screen will provide a preview of the file you just uploaded. From here, confirm that the proper columns are selected. In this example, you’ll need to select Street Address and ZIP code.
Step 6: Click save and now the audience can be used for targeting on any eligible order line.
Best Practices
-
Make sure to format the list correctly, with two columns: Address 1 and ZIP Code, which are needed to generate targetable IP addresses. Address 1: This is just the street number and the street name.
-
For example: 123 Main St., 502 Kentucky Avenue, 15011 Birch St. ZIP Code: This should just be the first 5 digits of the zip code. Example: 40202, 20500, etc.
-
-
Remember order line audience size minimums. Order lines are required to have an audience of at least 500 households. This does not mean that you cannot upload address lists smaller than 500. However, this may require you to attach multiple audiences to the same order line in order to meet that minimum.
-
Increase your reach and save time by using the same address list for different El Toro products. The same address list can generate different audience types. For example, if you wanted to target every address in a file, but wanted a larger audience, you could use the same address list to also target the neighbors of the original list.
